Close Up Photography Leads To Tragedy In Kenya

Close up photography leads to tragedy in Kenya

Sadly a tourist has been mauled to death by a hippo in the Lake Naivasha Country Club in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. Reports say the incident happened when the female Chinese tourist left her room one evening to take a close-up photograph of a baby hippo grazing and she was rushed and mauled by the mother. Wildlife officials intervened shooting the mother hippopotamus dead. Hippos are known to be particularly dangerous, particularly at close range or if disturbed and it is tragic that  safety guidelines were not met in this incidence leading to both human and wildlife fatality.

Knowing safe guidelines on safari are incredibly important to ensure these incidents remain rare, read more on this story here, and read the RIGHT tourism guide to safari here.
