Cruelty to animals in sport takes place all over the world, and in a variety of different guises.
In the UK there are continuing problems such as illegal fox hunting and hare coursing, whilst in other countries there are a huge range of issues including bullfighting, trophy hunting and horse fighting.
In recent years there has been a rise in the popularity of certain types of sport-related animal cruelty. For example the Pamplona Bull Run now attracts up to a million visitors each year, many of them in their teens and twenties. Many of these visitors will have no idea about the cruelty involved in this event and their presence and support for it is sadly serving to make this animal cruelty acceptable to the mainstream.
