Buying souvenirs of your holiday is often one of the highlights, giving you mementos by which to remember your trip by, or gifts to give to friends and family when you get home. However, wild animals or products made from them are often sold to tourists, and the survival of many species is threatened by this trade. Some species are protected from the impacts of trade by international legislation, some by national rules. Buying animals, or souvenirs made from animal products, on your holiday may harm individual animals and even whole species. And it may land you in a lot of trouble!
