Take the Animal-friendly Tourist Pledge
Are you an animal-friendly tourist? Even for animal lovers, it’s very easy to find yourself doing something that actually leads to an animal being harmed. This might not be at the moment you see them – the cruelty could come before you even get there, or long after you’ve left.
The RIGHT-tourism website includes lots of information to help you ensure this doesn’t happen. But the quick way to ensure you are an animal-friendly tourist is to take the RIGHT-tourism Pledge. If you follow these four points, then you will be well on the way to making sure that you can enjoy animals on holiday without harming them!
The Animal-friendly Tourist Pledge
When travelling, I pledge that I:
1. Won’t attend a show which encourages animals to perform in a non-natural way
2. Won’t have my photo taken holding a wild animal
3. Won’t buy or eat anything that could have come from an endangered animal
4. Will think about how my tourist experience is impacting on the animals I come across
